Top 6 Most Adventurous Jobs In The World!

December 8, 2021 by Steph Leave a Comment

“Do a job that you love, and you won’t even have to spend a day working in your life.” We are sure you have heard this quote a lot. It motivates you to pursue a career that you would like and love, so you earn and enjoy it at the same time. We think this quote works explicitly for the ones who are avid adventure seekers. If an adrenaline rush runs in your veins like blood, then you will have to seek a career in adventure to live happily. And that is what we are going to know about today in this post.

Ø Most recommended careers for adventure lovers!

You will be covering one-third of your life working for the job you choose. It means that if you choose a dull job, you will have to spend your life getting bored and hating it. But again, if you go for the work that interests you, like getting a pilot training with the suitable qualification or becoming an archaeological expert digging up the past, then you will spend your days doing something exciting and challenging. Now, if you can already feel the rush of blood while reading this post, take a look at the options you have in front of you if you are a true adventure lover:

o Surfing trainer —– Being an expert in surfing is great for adventure lovers because of two prominent factors. One, you will get to stay fit by swimming and surfing. Next, you get your dose of adventure by fighting the waves and enjoying the challenges. If you take this job and build a career with it, you’ll forever be on holiday enjoying your time at your favorite spot.

o Mountain climber or travel explorer – You don’t even consider this activity as a job or career, we believe. However, this can actually get you good bucks if you know where to sell your ideas (and research) about your explorations. You can be on your journey of exploring nature almost all the time and enjoy your work thoroughly. The monetary returns after this step are handsome as well.

o Safari guide –Your love for animals and adventure comes together if you become a safari guide and pursue it as your career. You will get to stay close with the beasts you love, and we know you will enjoy each moment of guiding like-minded people who come to meet them.

o An airplane pilot – One of the most exciting jobs in the world that brings you good returns is an airplane pilot. All those years you get your training from the pilot training classes from Hillsboro Aero Academy, producing expert and highly qualified students, ensures that you can stay up in the sky most of the time and enjoy flying as a profession.

o Researcher at NASA — Getting a job as a team member of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration means you can live your dream of traveling through the Universe and view the planets from a unique perspective. It can be one of the most entertaining jobs (not to mention prestigious) you can ever get hold of. Apart from it, the salary of the researchers or workers at NASA can be very high with many other tangible benefits.

o Wildlife photographer – If photographing the animals at their candid best interests you, then wildlife photography is something you should pursue as your career. Not only will you click almost real-looking images of their precious moments, but when you sell these pictures, the worldly returns are incredible.

If by any chance none of these catch your fancy, you can even try becoming a sports car racer, horse rider, an expert guide in skiing and scuba diving, or a theme park ride tester. All of these jobs have their own sets of excitement and challenges that will keep you hooked for years and even pay handsomely for the fun and risks!

Music and You: Why Music Should Be a Part of Your Life

August 9, 2021 by Steph Leave a Comment

Music has been around for centuries. Evidence has shown that people have used music for religious ceremonies, story-telling, celebrations, and as a form of expression or communication. People used music to bond with each other and it dramatically impacts our way of life in today’s society.

Musical instruments have evolved over the years; however, in the past, they mainly consisted of anything that could produce a sound or melody. Thus, one could say the first musical instruments are the human voice and our hands, but the earliest types of instruments were made from sticks, animal bones and skin, rocks, and beads.

Benefits of Learning to Play an Instrument

Learning to play an instrument is not only an excellent skill to have, but it has many cognitive, social, and physical benefits. Children are encouraged to take music lessons from an early age as it stimulates the brain and enhances concentration. In addition, the longer you play an instrument, the lower the risk of developing brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s.

Playing a musical instrument not only makes you smarter, but it has the following benefits:

1. Increases Patience

Not everyone can handle uncertainty or wait for a long time. Learning to play an instrument takes time, and one has to employ patience to master such a skill.

2. Improves Language Skills

Learning to play an instrument introduces you to the different pitch sounds, which are beneficial to learning other languages. Additionally, it allows you to identify the accents, tones, and rhythms found in many languages.

3. Discipline

If you want to play an instrument, it requires developing a schedule or plan for practicing. Adhering to a plan allows you to become more disciplined.

4. Coordination

Learning to play an instrument helps develop motor skills by simultaneously using your eyes, ears, voice, and even hands.

5. Social Skills

Playing an instrument makes you more confident, especially if you are in a band or group. In addition, it allows you to work with other people and develop a sense of empathy.

Making Music a Part of Your Life

Now that we know the benefits of playing an instrument, let us look at incorporating music into our daily lives.

  • Set your alarm to play your favorite song in the morning. Waking up to music is a great way to motivate you to get out of bed
  • Create a workout playlist of lively and energetic music to encourage you to exercise
  • Play music while commuting to make it more comfortable and make the time go by faster
  • Listen to music while doing chores or tasks that you consider to be boring. Playing music in the background will also help to get them completed in a much faster time
  • Attend a concert or music festival in your spare time

Benefits of Listening to Music

Not only is listening to music entertaining, but it also has many physical, mental, and emotional benefits, especially during a pandemic. Music can:

1. Lower Stress and Anxiety

Music is a great tool to manage stress and anxiety as it can relax your mind or act as a distraction. Listening to music is therapeutic and can relax your muscles, reduce your heart rate and lower your blood pressure. Many persons listen to music to become more optimistic during and after stressful or traumatic situations. College students who need to function at optimum levels can listen to music to get good grades.

2. Bring Back a Memory

Hearing a specific song from your childhood can bring back memories long forgotten. Listening to music can help with learning and the retention of information. Many students perform better in tests when they listen to music while they study.

Music has also proven to slow the effects of brain diseases that contribute to memory loss. So, just as the body needs exercise to keep fit, the brain uses music to stay in shape.

3. Manage and Reduce Pain

Focusing on music can significantly alleviate acute and chronic pain in some people. Music is used as a distraction and provides an escape while the brain releases endorphins into the body. In addition, many hospitals and outpatient clinics use music therapy as a way for patients to manage and decrease pain levels after accidents and surgeries.

4. Make You Sleep Better

People who have insomnia will have a slightly better chance of falling asleep if they listen to soothing music before bed. Music can create a relaxing environment for babies which soothes and lull them to a peaceful sleep.

5. Influence Your Mood

Listening to music can significantly affect our moods and regulate our emotions. For example, certain types of music stimulate the brain to release dopamine, which is a chemical that makes us happy and even reduces depression.

6. Increase Performance

Music motivates us to work harder. Whether during a workout or writing an article, listening to music allows us to focus on the task at hand. Overall, listening to music contributes to our well-being and keeps us healthy.

Ready to bring some holiday cheer with your guitar skills? Now that you know how to play Jingle Bells on the guitar, keep practicing to perfect the tune. With a bit of rhythm and holiday spirit, you’ll be spreading joy through music in no time! Happy playing, and enjoy sharing this festive favorite with family and friends!

The Linguistic Influence, Self, and Culture: Enjoying Foreign Language

May 18, 2021 by Steph Leave a Comment

Language often represents a powerful and instrumental part of communication, culture, and way of life. It, therefore, becomes a must to learn foreign languages, especially if you have to study or work in a foreign country. Such a foreign language will help you manage the daily excursions of shopping and getting directions and help you understand and communicate with people, especially if your job entails daily and constant interactions with the general public.

Language often has diverse benefits as it shapes our thought-process, expression, and the way we feel. Additionally, a language also safeguards culture and develops different perspectives. Therefore, having different types of languages becomes important to the various groupings and essential to the preservation of their cultures. How great is that you can always get linguistics help online.

The Linguistic Influence and its Beauty

Linguistic influence often involves the role a language plays in shaping cognition without limiting it. It arose from an old yet useful philosophical concept of language shaping thinking and interaction with everything else. The concepts date back to prehistoric Greek philosophy, which then got modernized through exploration by linguists Sapir Edward and Benjamin Whorf Lee. However, the ideas got debated until the current anthropological studies conclusively demonstrated the impact of language in shaping the comprehension level of the world.

However, it encompasses more than the theory as its impact often proves intricate and beautiful in practice. For instance, in a scenario where participants understand more than a language, you can easily identify the differences switching to different languages bring. An example entails switching Bulgarian into English and immediately noticing the tone and volume variances besides the vibrancy of sound and change in the subjects covered. You will find that a person becomes more vibrant and youthful, switching into English because of a reason or two compared to the mature self when conversing in Bulgarian.

You may get tempted to associate the dissonance noted to the individual experiences with either language than the language limitations in itself. While the association may prove correct, the beauty of the linguistic influence gets demonstrated in such instances.

Language often comes from the prevailing culture and gets built via shared experiences within a group of individuals. It, therefore, explains, for instance, why the English language in the United States proves markedly different from that in Britain. Additionally, it explains why the English guys speak in small towns can become different from those in inner-city English. Therefore, considering the role of culture as a building block, you exchange ideas when conversing in a specific language and swim in the culture of people who existed before us. This point is often taken in immigration essay topics.

Therefore, your language stands for the language and your experiences in life besides the historical capture of elements within the country that you have gotten exposed to over your interaction with the language. Additionally, the essence of verbalizing your secondary emotion and thought through a language becomes pivotal in sharing your experiences compared to an aspect such as telepathy. Therefore, you cannot substitute the importance of language with something else, such as telepathy, when communicating.

Conclusion

It becomes crucial to understand the role culture plays in the linguistic aspect of any society. So as you embrace that foreign language, whether English, Chinese, Spanish, or French, understand that you will learn the language and share in the experiences of those cultures.

5 reasons to learn Singapore math through online curriculum

May 14, 2021 by Steph Leave a Comment

According to the International Mathematics and Science Study (a test of achievement set by politicians and educators around the world), Singaporean students are globally the most successful in mathematics and science.

Singaporean mathematics is considered to have very high standards around the world, both in terms of its curriculum and how the subject is dealt with in exams. This is especially due to the fact that the Singapore Ministry of Education worked hard to develop an effective education system at the end of the last century. It was education, in particular, mathematics, that helped all industries, including economy, of the country to rise, strengthen and scale in a fairly short period of time.

Nowadays, the curriculum has shifted to the Internet and implemented in the e-Learning ecosystem. Singapore math online curriculum like this has become one of the most sought after educational systems around the world.

If you are still in doubt about the choice between eSingapore math and other curriculum, let’s take a look at 5 main reasons for choosing the first one.

  1. In-depth curriculum. Students don’t just learn how to solve equations and problems to find an answer, but also how the equations work. They should use physical objects and a hands-on approach to understand mathematical concepts, which is much more effective than memorizing tables and formulas. The system is also designed to find their own solutions by students, regardless of the complexity and standard of known approaches. This applies not only to math problems, but also to logic, philosophy, critical thinking and modeling, which are also included in the eSingapore math program. Interactive learning lessons designed for both individual and group practices.
  2. Layered strategies build on each other. In the Singapore curriculum, one skill set is the base for future lessons, contrary to a spiral system where material is revised over months or years, what is often annoying for both teachers and students and became a reason of time loose. By staying on each section little longer than in standard curricula, eSingapore math teachers strive to achieve the most thorough study of the material, which eliminates the need to repeat it over and over again. Students, in turn, are interested in studying in this order, because the gaps are the direct evidences of poor performance, moreover, there is no possibility of revise the materials in the future.
  3. Complex assessment. Exams tend to be difficult mainly when Singaporean curriculum combined with standard one and due to the fact that it will make students think much more critically. Practice is in the list of exam routine as well: students are encouraged to recall and relate concepts, analyze problems, and find solutions. All of these skills develop over time, so patience is required. For those who started to study with this system a long time ago, it will not be so difficult to pass the exams, because these students took mini-exams at the end of certain blocks of topics regularly (see the next paragraph).
  4. Progress tracking. The ability to track the progress even a case of self-study at home is one of the most important benefits of the program. As mentioned in the previous point, this allows students to adapt to a specific exam system, as well as to keep abreast of their achievements at every stage of the learning process. Placement test designed according to step-by-step evaluation approach which match to related curriculum part. So, if there is a decrease in productivity for a specific block, students can stop the process and revise topics they failed. This corresponds to the fundamental principle of the eSingapore math system – don’t move on until you master and pass current pieces of curriculum.
  5. Self-study and self-assessment options. The opportunity of independent study from a very early age creates an additional competitive advantage for future specialists. Of course, when it comes to children, self-study means a process with minimal involvement of parents and teachers. They only help children to get the correct perception of the material and control their progress and motivation/engagement status. Self-study and self-assessment abilities are essential not only for school but for whole life. A critical analysis of different cases, personal unbiased opinion, a quick reaction and making the right decision are must-have for every person wants to survive and succeed in the post-pandemic era.

Final thoughts

There are so many reasons why eSingapore math has gained prominence in recent years and has attracted such global attention. The above are just 5 of them. With the growing interest about Singaporean mathematics curriculum e-platform has proven to be a more useful, efficient and cost-effective method compared to the traditional in-person meetings.

The choice of this curriculum depends on many factors related to perception, initial math talents, motivation for online learning, and many other factors. Therefore, decision should be made exclusively on an individual basis. For those who hesitate about the future, probably, it’s one of the most profitable long-term investments of money, energy and time, especially when tackling questions like, are negative numbers rational?

BCFS Health and Human Services CSD Offers Parents Tips for At-Home Learning

February 9, 2021 by Steph

Millions of U.S. parents continue to struggle with managing their child’s education during the pandemic. The shutdowns in many states forced parents to balance their jobs and homes and take on the role of additional teacher. As the pandemic continues and kids continue to learn from school, parents need additional resources to help them navigate this turbulent time. Organizations such as BCFS Health and Human Services provide valuable advice for parents that reflects the company’s years of experience serving kids and parents in a variety of ways.

Kids learn their best when they are free from outside distractions, whether it’s an Xbox game or a pestering sibling. Parents and their kids should work together to find dedicated spaces for learning that remove most distractions and help the child perform their best. Parents can assist their kids by clearing off desk space or setting up their kids with an outdoors quiet area that’s away from other household noises. Once parents are confident their child has a good quiet space, that frees up more of their time for their jobs or housework, instead of constantly pushing the student back to learning.

Besides a dedicated space to learn, students at home also need expectations and guidelines to help them succeed. Parents can set expectations for their kids that complement their class schedule. So if they have five hours of instruction time, they can set reasonable goals for homework and study. For expectations, parents can talk to their kids about the effort level they want to see, as well as any grade levels. By setting attainable goals, parents keep their kids on track, and can establish a baseline where they can intervene if their child starts falling behind. BCFS Health and Human Services CSD recommends parents structure their student’s day, but also be willing to adapt to new circumstances and provide some leeway to kids who are doing their best under stressful circumstances.

To break up the routines of the school day, parents can also add some fun learning exercises to their child’s at-home curriculum. This could include talks about budgeting and personal finance to prep kids for being on their own. Most kids enjoy dessert, so parents could work together with their kids to bake cakes or cookies, so they’re learning how to cook while also enjoying a treat.

7 Things That Benefit Us When We Are Trying to Learn

January 7, 2021 by Steph Leave a Comment

How Can We Practice Activities That Are Conductive to Learning?

You may ask yourself what practices can you enroll in to encourage yourself to be able to learn better. Whether you are learning history in a college class or learning more about the stock market and BA stock, there are definite ways to learn. It is well known that learning is best done in a quiet environment. There are a number of different strategies that you may employ in order to learn most effectively, whatever the subject matter may be that you are studying. We will explore these various different options below.

1. Reserve a Quiet Space

The single most important aspect of being able to learn effectively is studying in a quiet space. Quiet spaces allow the mind to think properly and are free from distractions. It is absolutely imperative that when you are studying and learning, you are free from any distraction. There must be a continuity to the process of learning.

Quiet spaces are ideal learning spaces because you are able to hear yourself think and also because you are able to speak out loud about what you are learning in order to better memorize. There are those who learn best through auditory learning and for these people, it is most important to have quiet space so that they may speak their learning out loud.

2. Flash Cards

We strongly encourage the use of flashcards for learning. This type of learning strategy is most effective for those who have a combination of kinetic and visual learning practices. Flashcards are an interactive way in order to learn the information that you are required to learn.

3. Set Your Learning to Music

Another very effective way to maximize your learning abilities is to set the information to a tune. You may make up a song that includes the information that you need to memorize. If it is helpful for you, you may even record the song on an audiotape or MP3 player. Your computer or smartphone should have an audio recording on it so that you can record the song and then we sing it in order to help you learn the information. Once you memorize this song, you will find that you have also memorized the information you are needing to learn. It is much easier to memorize information to the musical tune than it is as a standard monologue.

4. Use Kinetic Tools

There are those who learn best by using kinetic tools. Kinetic tools are items that you can use in order to engage the sense of touch while you are studying. There are those who require this in order to memorize the information at hand.

One example of a kinetic tool is a stress ball. The learner may squeeze the stress ball while they memorize the information in order to better memorize the information. These practices have been found to be exceptionally effective for those who have been labeled as kinetic learners.

5. Writing in Repetition

Another useful tool for kinetic learners is to write the information in repetition. For example, if one needs to memorize that a + b = c, the learner may write down a + b = c 100 times on a piece of paper. The sheer repetition of the information allows the brain to memorize this information and absorb the information in a much deeper way than one would simply by writing it one time.

6. Practice with Friends

There is nothing wrong with asking a friend to help you with your studies. Sometimes, when you study in conversation, it is easier to memorize information. You may find that your friend wants to quiz you on the information that you have been studying. This will be a helpful activity in order for you to ensure that you really have retained the information you were striving to retain.

7. Review

Even once you believe that you have completely retained the information that you are studying, there is nothing wrong with reviewing. Reviewing each section that you are studying allows you to summarize the information and memorize it more thoroughly. Role Of The Victim Advocate In The Criminal Justice System

November 25, 2020 by Steph Leave a Comment

There is a system of legal and social institutions to oversee and enforce criminal laws. When the crime victim advocacy programs began, they were not a part of the traditional criminal justice system. Authorities took years to consider and legally merge it into the government system. Crime Victim advocates focus on providing legal, emotional, and medical care for the victims of crime. Law enforcement agencies, parole agencies, custodial institutions, and the department of corrections are part of the criminal justice system. Victim advocates are trained professionals with a formal education in criminal justice, criminology, social work, or psychology.

The role of a crime victim advocate is pivotal in the criminal justice system. They are a support system for the crime victims and assist them in recovering from the trauma. There are many kinds of victim advocate services; system-based, police-based, court-based, community-based, and some individuals work voluntarily. Dealing with a victim requires specific skills to understand their position. If you have wanted to know how to become a victim advocate, then completer your formal education. It is also essential to work on building skills like empathy and trustworthiness. Here are some crucial aspects of the role of victim advocate in the criminal justice system:

  • Save The Personal Identity Of Victim

This is, in fact, probably the most crucial role of the crime victim advocate’s job. Revealing unnecessary information about the crime victim can put their lives in danger. The law refrains the authorities from sharing the personal information of a victim in public. Victim advocates safeguard the victim’s personal information, although the victims can go public about the incident and their identity if they want. Right from the start, the victim advocates brief the victims about data privacy and policies. Firms that provide legal services to crime victims have strict rules against disclosing a victims’ personal data with a third person without their consent.

  • Safeguard the Crime Victim’s Rights

Crime victims have statutory rights, and most are unaware of them. A crime victim advocate provides a copy of this legal document to the victim. Crime victim advocates ensure that all parties who get in touch with the victim of crime are professional enough to protect the victim’s identity and fundamental human rights. Many individuals want to help the victims by providing every kind of support. A crime victim advocate’s responsibility is to make sure that the victim gets all the support they may need without being exploited.

  • Personal Advocacy

Personal advocacy is essential for crime victims. Crime victims belong to different social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Language barriers or racial stereotyping may become a hindrance in getting assistance. In these cases, cultural-specific advocacy is required. Crime victim advocates use their resources to provide appropriate services to overcome such hurdles in delivering justice. They help the victim regain and strengthen their self-empowerment and guide them about the legal parameters every step of the way.

  • Emotional Support

Crime affects everyone differently. Victims of crimes face emotional and mental trauma. Coping with this trauma requires a highly effective support system. Crime Victim advocates act as counselors; they spend time with the victims and listen to whatever they have to say. They are highly professional individuals who analyze the victim’s current emotional situation and help them escape the turmoil. With their excellent listening skills, they rebuild the victim’s confidence and encourage them to let go of the distressing experience. A crime victim needs a peaceful environment to relax their mind; it is the advocate’s responsibility to ensure they get this physical and mental space.

  • Resources And Referrals

Crime victims are often unaware of their rights. Victim advocates use their knowledge to connect victims with various resources to fulfill their social, emotional and financial needs. They give the victim detailed feedback about state crime victim reparation laws and emergency funds laws. Depending on the nature of the crime, every state allocates a budget for crime victims. The court orders the offender to pay a specific amount of money to the victim. In case the offender does not comply with court orders, it is the victim advocate’s responsibility to draft a strategy and ensure the victim is compensated. Applying for resources and referrals is a long process, and it needs proper documentation. Victim advocates carry out all the paperwork and try to provide maximum comfort and convenience to their clients.

  • Organizing Support Groups

Some victims find it easy to express themselves amongst people with similar experiences. Victim advocates organize a support group where victims share their experiences and learn from each other. The advocates ensure the confidentiality of these meetings. Victim advocates have years of experience, and they know the importance of healthy interactions for the recovery process. In fact, there is a proper curriculum designed for victim support groups. Advocates are also responsible for closely monitoring the outcome of these support groups.

  • Medical And Mental Health

Crime Victim advocates are often well-connected with hospitals, mental health clinics, and other healthcare providers. They identify the victim’s health needs and contact the concerned authorities for medical support. Gathering medical records and suggesting treatments is also the advocate’s responsibility. In some cases, the victim refuses to get medical and mental help; it is the advocate’s job to highlight the importance of getting treatment and to convince them in the long run.

The Final Word

Victim advocates play a pivotal role in the criminal justice system by ensuring that victims of crime are given their due rights and justice. Their role becomes even more significant in a legal system that is ineffective, compromised, and plagued with patriarchy. Without them, these individuals would have a tough time dealing with their trauma and life in general.
